Oak Class January News 2022

In Maths we have looked at area and perimeter of shapes. We have also looked at using the formal method for division.
In English the children looked at the book ‘The Darkest Dark’ where they had to plan and write a speech to persuade Chris to go to space and then plan and write a speech for Chris not to go to space. Through this unit we looked at the use of prepositions, verbs and adverbs.
We have started our new Geography unit ‘Are we damaging our world?’ The children have explored climate change, global warming and deforestation.
In Science our new unit is ‘Space and Earth’. The children have explored why we know the Sun, Earth and Moon are spherical and how planets move in our solar system. They have named, ordered and described features of the planets in our solar system learning some really interesting facts!
In Forest School the children completed an activity called stick wrapping, which is a skill that can help with shelter building and also a technique for making tools.
